set_load & set_fanout_out

Hi,
I am a new comer to the design compiler. I am not familiar to some
parts of the contraints. Can some body help me to explain the
difference between set_load and set_fanout_load? And where can I get
some reading materials for tutorial of synthesis? Thanks very much.
